The #1 Life Challenge Everyone’s Talking About
Today is Sunday Reset for me (time and space for inner work to reflect, plan, and organize my “gorgeous chaos”). If you have a Savor Beauty Planner, you should have received your exclusive invite to join me in our virtual Self-Love Spa (we’re in soft launch phase!) for some juicy video content to guide you to set up your week intentionally.
If you have a planner and did not receive your invite, please email us!
The #1 challenge I’m hearing from so many people lately is that they can’t find work-life balance.
My perspective may empower you to think about this challenge differently.
I defined self-care in my book, Radical Radiance, as “an action for which your future self will thank you.” As someone who burnt out on workaholism, I’m a big advocate of self-love. And I believe that part of self-care is financial wellness, and one way that we can achieve this is through work.
Here’s an eye-opening formula from Laura Vanderkam’s book, 168 hours: You Have More Time Than You Think:
We all have 168 hours in a week.
If you sleep 8 hours a night, you are left with 112 hours.
If you work 40 hours a week, you now have 72 hours left.
This leaves us with 40 hours of “work” vs. 72 hours for “life” per week.
Let’s give 40 of those “life” hours to kids, commutes, and personal circumstances.
Even if we are left with 32 hours for “self-care”, it’s still a lot more than we think we have. So why do most of us feel depleted versus full?
The answer, I believe, is that we are not being intentional or purposeful about our self-care. We need intentional self-care.
We can stay in bed and chat with friends, binge on Netflix, and chill (this is my favorite “downtime” activity—I could do this all day!), but after a few hours of this, I begin to feel sluggish and stuck.
Intentional self-care gives our souls space to express creativity and flow. In other words, to get energy, we must generate energy. And we can do this through Radiance Retreats.
Radiance Retreats bring your inner being to life and have the power to sustain your radiance and vibrancy. The secret lies in connecting to our essence daily and igniting our desires and passions.
To do this in my own life, I began “dating” myself by scheduling Radiance Retreats into my planner and treating them like real dates with a friend or lover.
I had exploration playdates with my passions, interests, and curiosities. I created, enjoyed, relished, engaged, and connected with myself in a way that I never had before. I began engaging with my surroundings and became immersed and present—breathing, savoring, and appreciating.
I encourage you to rethink intentional self-care for true work-life balance. Remember, you have more time than you think! xx, Angela
