How to Declutter Your Mind
Do you ever slide into your week (or day) feeling overwhelmed, panicked, or hurried?
You need a Mind + Mask Detox weekly ritual!
I do this ritual at the top of the week to get rid of all of the inner and outer “gunk” for both skin and soul clarity. As I always say, how you treat your skin is how you treat your soul—both need detoxification, nourishment, and love.
I call it a “detox” because you purge the “good, bad, and ugly” from your pores and your brain, and it feels amazing to begin the week with calm and clear intentions.
THE MASK DETOX
*You can create a DIY mask in your kitchen by mixing one part raw honey and one part milk to desired consistency.
Honey, like many botanical ingredients, can cause irritation or even an allergic reaction. Introduce it to your ritual with care and possibly with the guidance of a dermatologist. I keep the mask on during my mind detox (below); however, if at any point the mask feels uncomfortable, listen to your skin and take it off.
THE MIND DETOX
Have you ever thought of things you need to do and then felt guilty when you didn’t accomplish them? Nothing drains energy more than your “do this, do that” inner voice.
Getting things done are little actions for which your future self will thank you—the ultimate act of self-love. The trick is to shift your mindset from tasks being an emotional or mental drain to being beneficial for your well-being.
For example, let’s say I need to make a doctor’s appointment for an annual visit. Instead of framing it as a dreaded task, I would approach it as the pathway to greater health and well-being.
My future self would thank my past self for having taken the steps necessary to maintain and manifest good health.
While you are masking, think about upcoming commitments, and anything you want to accomplish—both personal and professional—and write it all down.
Once you have your to-dos and tasks on paper, it feels good to know where you’re headed. It’s a spiritual cleanse for mind and soul.
Part of my mind detox involves planning out my week’s meetings. On average, I have up to ten set meetings per week, and if I don’t come prepared, I feel disorganized and can’t run the meetings efficiently.
I feel more poised and calm when I plan it in advance using the “Organize Your Gorgeous Chaos” page in the Savor Beauty Planner.
